It is with great pleasure to
announce the following 99's were elected to positions in the
West Canada Section at the meeting on September 26, 2009
held in Kelowna.
Governor: Betty Lee Moore – Canadian Rockies Chapter, Vice Governor: position is vacant, Section News Reporter – Wendy Boyes – BC Coast Chapter, Section Secretary – Megan Evers – BC Coast Chapter, Section Treasurer – Caroline Kolasa – BC Coast Chapter and Section Membership Chairman – Kelly Sheret – Canadian Rockies Chapter. After the meeting we had a great lunch and then had a very informative seminar by John Armitage Deputy Director General, Operations & Training with Search and Rescue. Some of the topics were Preflight Preparations and the keys to help in your survival. Another presenter was Rosella Bjornson who spoke of her life/career as a pilot. Rosella shared pictures on the big screen of her and her husband's aircraft they have flown throughout the years.....AND WHO DOESN'T LIKE LOOKING AT THOSE. Thank you so much Rosella for sharing your story with us. Then the wine touring began with some of us hitching a ride on the wine tour bus and others meeting them at the wineries. As you can see by the pictures we all enjoyed the tastes. Then we all attended the Banquet celebrating the Canadian Rockies Chapter 30th Anniversary Celebration. Congratulations, the chapter is still going strong. It was a pleasure meeting some of the founding members of the chapter and enjoyed the ongoing and new friendships. Some of us caught wind the Russian Antonov was at the Kelowna airport, so off we went to watch it take off. We finished off the weekend with the wonderful pancake breakfast put on by the Kelowna flying Club. It was $5.00 per breakfast with all the proceeds going to the Canadian Rockier Chapter 99's. Now that is camaraderie. On behalf of the West Canada Section I would like to welcome Megan Evers to the BC Coast Chapter, Charity Armstrong to the Canadian Rockies Chapter and have also caught wind Danielle is thinking of starting her Pilot's training. Also Congratulations to Megan for just completing her Commercial Pilots Licence and working on her Multi Rating with Coastal Pacific in Abbotsford, and Charity for completing her Night Rating and is now working on her Commercial Pilot's Licence..On FLOATS at Air-Hart in Kelowna. Way to go Girls...we are proud of you. I hope you enjoy the pictures attached of our great weekend and also hope to see as many of you as possible at next years function. Now that I am the official Section New Reporter I will be looking forward in hearing from you with your accomplishments, flying stories etc so we can let the world out there see 'THE WEST CANADA SECTION' IS GOING STRONG. I would also like to thank you all for your support for the last four years as Governor. It was not only an honor but a learning experience that will last be a life time. I am happy to say you are all in GREAT HANDS with Betty Lee. Thank you Betty Lee for accepting the roll and I as I am sure all of us, are looking forward in working with you.
