I would like to extend another “thank you” to Akky Mansikka for an excellent presentation at Buttonville Airport on January 21, 2003. Akky’s talk, “ How Akky got into Dragon Boating and Flying” was not only educational but also “straight from the heart”. We admire Akky’s courage, determination and ability to inspire others.

For those individuals who were not familiar with Dragons Abreast, they now know how the team got started, its message and how the team has not only competed and gained popularity from coast to coast but also internationally.

Akky brought her book, “How To Ride a Dragon”, the newspaper articles from the Toronto Star and great videos (the one from Rome was especially well done plus it was nice to see Akky’s team win those gold medals!).

When I was out at the Oshawa airport the other day watching a Medivac Helicopter take off, a young boy standing beside me asked the question –  “How does that helicopter fly?”  Well, I couldn’t help thinking about Akky’s response to her first flight instructor when he asked the question! It’s magic!!!

Note:  We plan to expand Akky's profile in the future.
