As a licensed woman pilot, you are invited to become a part of our legacy as the first and only international organization of women pilots. There are 6,000 99s in 33 countries around the world, involved in every aspect of aviation.  The Ninety-Nines are a positive force in the aviation community and you are invited to partake in all that we can offer.

  • Eligibility for numerous Scholarships and Grants 

    • A dozen or more scholarships are given every year to help women attain the ratings and licenses needed to advance in the field of aviation.   This year, Federal Express donated $ 10,000 in scholarship money and United Airlines donated two 337 type ratings.  No other organization in the world has committed as much time and money to advance the status of women in the aviation and aerospace industries.

    • In 2001, Canadians Jill Dermott, Peggy Gordon, Alice Redahl, and Wendy Percival won scholarships.

    • In 1999, Roberta Baker, West Canada Section, received  a scholarship to complete her Class IV Instructor's rating

    • In 1998, Wendy Boyes, West Canada Section, won a scholarship, used to earn her IFR rating.

    • In 1997, Shelley Breedon, East Canada Section, won a Scholarship, used for a PPC on a Navaho.

    Annual Cost for a Canadian 99:  $ 67US/annual (first time 99s - additional $ 10 US). 

    Annual Cost for a Canadian Academic 99:  $ 30 US.   To qualify, you must attach an official record of your full-time academic schedule at a higher education institution.  Members who are attending flight schools do not fall within this definition.


Future Women Pilots (FWP) Category

  • This category was introduced in 1999 to permit student pilots to join the 99s. 

  • A photocopy of the student medical certificate or an equivalent document (if non-US) to be attached to the membership application. 

  • Annual Membership dues are $20 US per year, plus a $ 10 initiation fee for the first year.  

  • FWP members can remain in this category for up to 2 years (the life of their student medical) and count their time towards an Amelia Earhart Scholarship

  • FWP members cannot vote, be a delegate or give proxy as a delegate at the international level.
