Governor Service Award
CHAPTERS: Atlantic Montreal E. Ont FCC Maple Leaf
The Governor's Service Award was introduced in 1995 by then Governor, Joy Parker Blackwood, to recognize, on an annual calendar basis, one member of the East Canada Section 99s for her outstanding and continuing contributions to the 99s and general aviation.

Criteria:

  • Nominees must be a member of a Chapter of the 99s East Canada Section
  • Current Section officers, and members who have previously received this award are not eligible.

Considerations for Nomination:

The following suggestions are not all inclusive, simply examples.  The candidate selected by your Chapter may have done all or none of this list.  She may have done something that is so spectacular in itself as to make her the outstanding winner.   Focus is to be placed on continuing involvement with the Ninety-Nines.

  • Length of membership in Chapter/Section
  • Major achievement in aviation
  • Section meetings attended
  • International meetings attended
  • Offices held (Chapter/Section/International)
  • Member of Section or International committees
  • Sponsor of new members/member recruiting
  • Public Relations activities
  • Generates new and creative ideas for chapter/section development and activities
  • Writes aviation articles
  • Participates actively in chapter/section events
  • Speaker on aviation at civic body, club or school
  • Member of civic or service club aviation committee
  • Elected officer in other aviation group, through which the 99s benefit
  • Member of city, province or federal government committee on aviation
  • Special project or activity not listed above.

Annual Schedule

  • By Dec. 31st, the Chapter Chairman (or designate) writes a letter of recommendation to the Section Governor stating why their nominee is the most deserving candidate.
  • The Section executive select one of the Chapter finalists based upon the letters.
  • The award is presented at the Annual Spring Section Meeting.
